Hütteldorfer Bad

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Hütteldorfer Bad is a former summer swimming pool owned by the City of Vienna in the 14th district of Penzing .

history

It is not known exactly when the Hütteldorfer Bad was built. The earliest known name of the bath comes from the year 1868, when the council of the then still independent municipality of Hütteldorf discussed its new leasing. When the suburbs were incorporated into Vienna in 1891, the swimming pool came into the possession of the City of Vienna.

In order to be able to extend the swimming pool, some parcels of land were bought from the administration of the kk priv. Kaiserin Elisabeth-Bahn in 1884 . In addition, a separate water pipe was to be built in order to be able to supply the bath, which was previously supplied with water from the nearby Mühlbach, with water.

From 1920 the City of Vienna took over the management of the bath itself.

The 1968 pool concept of the municipality of Vienna provided for the expansion of the Hütteldorfer pool, but due to the lack of space on the small property, modern extensions were not possible. In 1979 the Hütteldorfer Bad in today's Ferdinand Wolf Park was finally closed. As a replacement, as for the Baumgartner Bad, the Penzing Waldbad opened in 1993 ( Hütteldorf indoor swimming pool from December 2009 ).

description

In 1961, the Hütteldorfer Bad had two swimming pools, each 25 × 11.5 meters, 154 cabins, 230 boxes and 187 hooks on a 2,800 square meter property. It offered space for around 2,400 bathers.
