Hütter Strasse 4
The residential and commercial building at Hütter Straße 4 (old name also: hut ) is protected as a monument. It is located in today's Wuppertal district of Cronenberg . Hütte is the actual center of Cronenberg and the name is probably derived from a smelting plant for iron ore that was found nearby.
The slated half-timbered building from the late 18th century has two floors and a shop on the ground floor. The building is gable , that is, the gable faces the street. The curved mansard roof is equipped with a gable .
In 1827, the same year Cronenberg gained the title of township , Carl Riedel was born here in the building as the son of the pharmacist Gustav Riedel, who ran his pharmacy in the same building. Carl Riedel, initially a journeyman silk dyer, discovered his musical talent and became a famous conductor and composer. He also wrote the German text for the Christmas carol " Come, you shepherds, you men and women ". A plaque on the house reminds of Riedel:

The house, which is typical of the Bergisch half-timbered construction, belongs to the historic town center of Cronenberg and for this reason, among other things, was placed under monument protection on December 28, 1989 . The shop is now used as a stationery shop.
