The HAL HA-31 Basant is an agricultural aircraft from the Indian manufacturer Hindustan Aeronautics .
History and construction
Hindustan Aeronautics began in 1968 to develop an agricultural aircraft under the designation HA-31 Mk 1 , which had the cockpit directly above the wing leading edge. The design was eventually revised and produced as the HA-31 Basant Mk II . The Basant Mk II is a stripped low wing aircraft with a conventional tail unit, fixed tail wheel landing gear and is powered by a 400 hp Lycoming IO 720 C1B boxer engine. The machine has a raised cockpit to give the pilot a good all-round view. Production ended in 1980 after 39 aircraft were built.
