HBO Canada is a Canadian television station that sources its programming from HBO in the United States . HBO Canada cannot be received individually or freely, but only in conjunction with the pay-TV packages from The Movie Network and Movie Central .
On September 22, 2008, the two television station operators The Movie Network (TMN) and Movie Central (MC) issued a press release that the stations will jointly offer an HBO station in standard format and HDTV on October 30, 2008. For TMN subscribers, this meant that the previous channels MMore and MMore HD were replaced by HBO Canada. For Movie Central subscribers, Movie Central 4 and Movie Central 1 HD have been replaced by HBO Canada.
