HD 122430 is a giant of spectral class K in the constellation Hydra, about 440 light years from Earth . It has an apparent magnitude of 5.5 mag. In 2003 Setiawan et al. the discovery of an extrasolar planet orbiting this star, systematically named HD 122430 b . The orbital period of the companion found with the help of the radial velocity method is around 345 days and the major semi-axis of its orbit measures approximately one astronomical unit .
