HD 177830 is a sub-giant of spectral class K0 about 190  light-years from Earth . It has an apparent magnitude of 7.2 mag. HD 177830 has a spectroscopic companion with the systematic name HD 177830 b , which could be an exoplanet or a brown dwarf. The object has an orbital period of approx. 400 days and a minimum mass of only approx. 1.3 Jupiter masses and a major semi-axis of approx. 1  astronomical unit . It was suggested by Vogt et al. discovered.
