HD 50499 is a star in the constellation Puppis 150 light-years from Earth . It has an apparent visual magnitude of 7.2 mag.
In 2005 Steven Vogt et al. the spectroscopic discovery of an extrasolar planet which orbits this star and which has been given the systematic name HD 50499 b . The companion has an orbital period of almost 2500 days and a minimum mass of around 1.7 Jupiter masses.
