The HMCS Halifax (FFH 330) is a Halifax-class frigate of the Canadian Navy . It is named after the Canadian city of Halifax .

HMCS Halifax was built by Saint John Shipbuilding in Saint John , New Brunswick between 1987 and 1988 and entered service in 1992.

history

  • 1998: HMCS Halifax assisted in the search and recovery of Swissair Flight 111 .
  • 2001: HMCS Halifax took part in various combat exercises.
  • 2010: HMCS Halifax was nominated as the first frigate for the general overhaul program FrigatE Life EXtension (FELEX) . Start from September 2010.
  • January 2010: The frigate took part in the rescue and relief operations for the earthquake victims in Haiti.
  • September 2010: HMCS Halifax was handed over to Irving Shipbuilding's Halifax Ship Yards for the 18 month general overhaul (FELEX).
