The HSG Rheinbach-Wormersdorf is a handball club from the city of Rheinbach in the Rhein-Sieg district in North Rhine-Westphalia . The 1st men play in the Regionalliga Nordrhein, the 2nd men in the Verbandsliga Mittelrhein.

history

The HSG was founded in 1998 as a merger of the handball departments of the clubs TV Rheinbach, Rot-Weiß Merl and TV Wormersdorf. From 1998 to 2001 the men played in the association league under coach Gilbert Schwolow. At the end of the 2000/01 season, he was relegated to the national league . In the 2001/02 season he was immediately promoted to the association league. In 2003 the cooperation with Rot-Weiß Merl was ended and the HSG continued with the parent clubs TV Rheinbach and TV Wormersdorf. In 2003 Dietmar Schwolow took over the HSG's coaching position.

In the 2004/05 season the HSG qualified for the Oberliga Mittelrhein. The HSG rose in the 2008/09 season from the Oberliga to the Regionalliga West . In the 2009/10 season she missed relegation with the 14th place and rose again to the league. Tobias Schwolow was elected to the All-Star-Team West of the Regionalliga season 2009/10 on the left back position . In the 2010/11 DHB Cup, the HSG lost to TSG Groß-Bieberau in the first round . In the 2015/16 season, the HSG qualified for the newly founded Regionalliga Nordrhein. The HSG was dissolved at the end of the 2016/17 season. The game rights were transferred to TV Rheinbach.

In the 2017/2018 season, Karsten Bohmann-Hesse took over the coaching position for the first men's team, which is in danger of relegation. At the end of the season, TV Rheinbach was able to celebrate relegation.
