The Ha Long Queen Cable Car ( Vietnamese Cáp Treo Nữ Hoàng Hạ Long , English Ha Long Queen Cable Car ) spans the narrow area between the Vịnh Hạ Long and the Cửa Lục Bay in northeast Vietnam with a sloping length of 2165 m .

The Ha Long Queen cable car holds two records, which were entered in the Guinness Book of Records on May 17, 2016 :

  • The two-story cabins can accommodate 230 people.
  • The taller of the two cable car supports measures 188.88 meters, making it the highest of its kind. The height was deliberately chosen because the number eight is considered a lucky number in Vietnam.

The aerial tramway runs from the valley station at the ferry terminal in the Bãi Cháy district of Hạ Long City, parallel to the Bãi Cháy bridge, to the mountain station on the Ba Đèo hill . Bãi Cháy was merged with Hồng Gai in 1993 to form the city of Hạ Long. For some years now, booming tourist centers have been developing on its beaches. There, the Ha Long Ocean Park leisure facility is being built by the developer Sun Ha Long LLC from the Sun Group Corporation , the opening of which was planned for 2017. The Ha Long Queen cable car connects this facility with the Sun World HaLong Park of the same sponsor on the hill of Ba đèo , which is crowned with a ferris wheel that offers a spectacular view over Ha Long Bay.

After a construction period of 19 months including the building permit process, the cable car opened on June 25, 2016. Every hour, up to 2,000 people can climb 88.5 meters in altitude and a distance of 2,165 meters per trip at prices from 200,000 to 300,000 Đồng (8 to 12 €). The Baubezeichnung cable car from the building type aerial tramway (Aerial Tramway, ATW) is 230-ATW Ha Long Queen Cable Car . Construction was carried out by the Doppelmayr / Garaventa Group from Austria and Switzerland . The cabins were manufactured by CWA Constructions SA , which is part of the group . The cable car supports were made of concrete using the slipform construction method .
