history

The first signs of human life in the Hague area date from the beginning of the Bronze Age around 3000 to 1800 BC. The village of Hag with five estates appears for the first time in the 13th century in the Passau land registers. In 1442 a Gothic chapel was built in Haag, the choir of which was integrated into today's church as a baptistery. Around 1542, the cathedral chapter in Haag was subordinate to three estates. In 1578 Domdekan Schwartz awarded the Passau citizen Gottfried Hofer and his wife and children tithe in Haag.

Hague was under the Bishopric of Passau the Office Hauzenberg. After secularization in Bavaria and the dissolution of the bishopric, it finally became part of the Kingdom of Bavaria in 1806 . In 1821 the first school was built in Hague. A larger one-story school building was built in 1841 and, after several renovations, was used until 1966. In 1862 a weekly school mass was introduced. In 1900 Haag became an exposition with its own cemetery, and it was elevated to a parish in 1921. The newly built church was consecrated in 1925.

The electrical power was installed in Haag in 1921/1922. A new schoolhouse was built from 1965 to 1966. Politically, Haag belonged to the municipality of Windpassing until its voluntary merger with the then Markt Hauzenberg in 1976. In a joint project between the city of Hauzenberg, the parish of Haag and the Directorate for Rural Development, the old school in Haag was converted into a community hall.
