Hacksen is a formerly independent municipality and today's district of the local community Obererbach (Westerwald) in the district of Altenkirchen (Westerwald) .

history

The first documented mention of the place Hacksen is recorded in the necrology of the Marienstatt Abbey . In 1473 Gerhard and Hilla from Hüttenhofen donated their land near Hacksen to the monastery.

At the beginning of the 16th century, two farms in Hacksen are mentioned that had the right to fatten pigs in the forest . In 1606 Hacksen consisted of three houses. Until the division of the country after the Thirty Years War , Hacksen belonged to the County of Sayn , then to the County of Sayn-Altenkirchen . At the end of the 17th century there is evidence of an oil mill in Hacksen. In 1743 the community of Hacksen had four fireplaces, in 1801 six with 30 residents.

In 1853, 61 people lived in Hacksen, in 1900 there were already 74. In 1901, land consolidation was carried out in order to use the agricultural land more economically. In 1926 and 1931 Hacksen had 109 inhabitants.

On April 1, 1939, the community of Hacksen was merged with Niedererbach and Obererbach to form the local community of Obererbach (Westerwald) , and Hacksen has been a district of Obererbach (Westerwald) since then.

In Hacksen there is still an independent forest interest group .

The district of Hacksen is part of the Hilgenroth parish.
