Hadban Enzahi (born August 15, 1952 , † July 22, 1975 ) was an original Arabian stallion bred at the El Zahraa State Stud near Cairo in Egypt . Hadban Enzahi was one of the founding stallions of the Egyptian-bred thoroughbred Arabians in Germany in the late 1950s and early 1960s . Until then, the Arab thoroughbred breeding scene was largely dominated by the representatives of the Polish lines.
Purchase and import
In November 1955, a purchasing committee headed by the then head stable master, Dr. Georg Wenzler went to Cairo to the El Zahraa State Stud with the aim of buying original Arabians for the breeding of the Marbach Main and State Stud .
At the time of the purchase investigation, El Zahraa was headed by General Tibor von Pettkó-Szandtner , who previously headed the Hungarian state stud in Bábolna as the stud commander . Von Szandtner was one of the few who had recognized the importance of the oriental Arabian stallions for European breeding from the beginning.
“The then 20-year-old silver-white Nazeer was the finest of the noblest. He was very good on his feet, a network of veins stretched over his body. He was the father of the two stallions Hadban Enzahi and Ghazal bought for Germany.
...
The El Zahraa dam mares were a glorious gathering of elite Arabs, a gathering of beauty and nobility. "
Hadban Enzahi was imported to Germany together with his half-brother Ghazal .
Breeding history
Hadban Enzahi was used in breeding for nineteen years in Marbach. He was one of the stud's top sires and left a large number of offspring that were exported worldwide and won numerous prizes for their owners.
During this time Hadban Enzahi succeeded in fathering a herd of almost twenty mares from only four dam mares. Known as the Marbach Silver Herd, these mares have long been considered one of the best and most uniform groups of dams in Arab breeding worldwide.
In the course of breeding, it was found in Marbach that a combination of the two stallions from El Zahraa would bring promising offspring. Some of the best Hadban Enzahi offspring come from Ghazal daughters. In his breeding career, Hadban Enzahi produced a total of 70 registered daughters for the breeding of the Arabian thoroughbred horse.
