The Port Corpus Christi is a 1926 Opened seaport in Corpus Christi , Texas , United States . It is used exclusively as a freight port. The port entrance is spanned by the Corpus Christi Harbor Bridge , a cantilever bridge.

The port is located on the Nueces River at Corpus Christi Bay on the northern outskirts of Corpus Christi, Texas and provides access to the Gulf of Mexico ( Atlantic Ocean ) via the Corpus Christi Ship Channel . The port facilities extend across the administrative areas of Corpus Christi and Nueces Counties .
Economical meaning
The deep water port is the sixth largest port in the country in terms of annual cargo turnover.
Infrastructure
The port is connected to the road network (e.g. US Route 181 ) and to the rail network ( Kansas City Southern , BNSF Railway and Union Pacific ).
A new container terminal is currently planned at La Quinta.
