The port of Rantum (also Yachthafen Rantum ) is a small pleasure boat port and former fishing port on the east side of the island of Sylt , near the village of Rantum . The port dries out at low tide and, due to its location on the sheltered east side of the island, is not exposed to the swell of the North Sea . Boats up to a draft of 1.20 m can call at the port.

The Rantum marina is the smallest and at the same time the youngest of the four harbors on Sylt. It was created in 1977 directly on the area of the former Rantum sea pilot's base on the south-east corner of the Rantum basin . At the site of today's port, there was a landing stage for air traffic control boats during the times of the sea air base.

The port was originally built to allow mussel fishermen and smaller fishing boats to moor. It was even planned to set up a dock here for excursion boats. Despite the convenient location not far from the island metropolis of Westerland , competition from the established ports in List and above all Hörnum was so strong that the port of Rantum was refrained from further tourist expansion. In addition, this port is dependent on the tide and regular dredging of the fairway would have required high investments. In the meantime, the port is therefore used exclusively by pleasure boats .
