The boat harbor was expanded to become the Treptow water station in 1954 and carried this name until around 1960. It served as the home port and main landing stage of the Berlin White Fleet . This is where excursion traffic began up the Spree to the south-eastern parts of East Berlin and the wider area around the city. After the reunification of Berlin in 1990, trips down the Spree in the direction of Berlin City were also started.

The White Fleet was part of the Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe combine in the GDR . In 1992 it merged with the West Berlin company Stern und Kreisschiffahrt . The shipping company is based in the port of Treptow.

On July 5, 1951, the most serious accident for Berlin passenger shipping and inland shipping in the GDR occurred in the port area .
