Hafiz Said Khan

Hafiz Said Khan , also Hafis Saed Chan (* 1972 in Mamozai , Pakistan ), is a former Taliban who has been commander in chief of the Islamic State terrorist militia in Afghanistan since January 2015 . Hafiz Said Khan is also known as Mulla Saeed Orakzai.

Life

He was born in 1972 in Mamozai , a Pakistani city mainly populated by Pashtuns not far from the border with Afghanistan . After the 9/11 attacks , he joined the Taliban in Kabul to fight what he saw as Western invaders. From 2007 Hafiz Said Khan held a leadership position in the Pakistani Taliban Movement (TTP) . On October 15, 2014, he and 5 other Taliban leaders left TTP and joined the Islamic State. Since January 2015 he has been the commander in chief of IS in Afghanistan.

In July 2015, it was heard from people around the Afghan secret service, presumably the National Security Directorate , that Hafiz Said Khan had been killed in a drone attack. The IS denied this to the BBC . Instead, other militants were killed.

Hafiz Said Khan is married and has two sons and a daughter. Within IS, he is considered a so-called hardliner .
