history

1888-1950

Company founder Artur Meisinger first came into contact with dental drills in the 1880s, which he also sold as the operator of a watch shop. At that time dentistry was still at the beginning of its development, the demand was great and the product ranges small. Meisinger recognized the potential, gave up his watch business and founded the "German-American Dental Drill Factory" (DAZF) in Düsseldorf on June 15, 1888 . The company was one of the first in the world to machine drill bits using semi-automatic drives.

In 1912 Willy Noack, former precision mechanic Meisingers, founded the company "Erwin Hager & Co." together with Erwin Hager and thus initially entered the DAZF competition. Twelve years later, the two companies merged to form "Hager & Meisinger GmbH". The orange and white trademark was created in 1924, which is based on Artur Meisinger's signature and has remained largely unchanged to this day.

In the course of the Second World War , large parts of the production were destroyed in a bombing raid in 1943 and in 1945 many of the remaining machines were seized by the Allies . After the reconstruction, production could be continued in 1946.

1950-2000

Together with Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz , Hager & Meisinger developed the first carbide drills in 1950, which went into series production three years later. In 1963, the production capacities were expanded by a second production site in Düsseldorf. In 1970 Meisinger developed the first cross-cut carbide FG drills (RX drills).

When Meisinger entered the field of implantology in 1987, he expanded his field of activity to include a sub-area of dentistry that was still little researched at the time.

Coordinated implant systems have been produced since 1998, from which the company's own "Bone Management" emerged a few years later.

Since 2000

In 2001, Meisinger founded a sales office in the USA for the US market. A year later, the German headquarters were relocated from Düsseldorf to Neuss and production and administration were brought together at one location.

In 2002 the product line "Meisinger Bone Management" was created. The portfolio, developed in collaboration with scientists and practitioners, offers coordinated system solutions for controlled and minimally invasive implantological interventions.

In 2004, Meisinger first organized seminars on advanced training for dentists. In addition to national and international symposia, Meisinger has been organizing the “Bone Management Road Show” since 2009 in cooperation with the sports car manufacturer Porsche.
