The Hahnenknoop-Hetthorn Moorkanal is a body of water III. Order and maintenance is subject to the Untere Lune water and soil association . The canal was built at the end of the 19th century for the purpose of draining the moorland areas intended for development and management.

The canal is used to drain Hahnenknoop and Stotel-Sandberg , both localities of the Loxstedt unified municipality , Cuxhaven district , in the state of Lower Saxony .

The Hahnenknoop district, the grassland of the Königsmoor near Schwegen , the grassland of the Stoteler Moors , partly the Hetthorn Moor and the Stoteler Osterfeld will also be drained.
