The ground spiders (Hahniidae) are a family of real web spiders within the superfamily Dictynoidea . The family comprises 249 species in 28 genera worldwide . (As of June 2016)
description
The ground spiders are quite small spiders. The largest species reach a size of a maximum of three millimeters. Despite their small size, they can be easily recognized by their spinnerets . These are relatively large compared to the spider itself and are arranged in a horizontal row.
Way of life
Ground spiders build small blanket nets between stones, moss and over small hollows in the ground. The spiders hunt on the web and apparently do not build any hiding places. They are found in both humid environments and drier forests. Ground spiders are common worldwide.
