biography

Duke learned to ski in the Sun Valley winter sports area, where her parents worked as ski instructors. Although she regularly took part in children's races, her interest was initially mainly in the martial art of Taekwondo . She won the Idaho State Youth Championships 13 times in a row. After finishing third in the 2001 US qualifying, she definitely turned to ski racing. Duke continues to practice Taekwondo as compensation and received the 4th Dan in 2004 .

In December 2000 Duke took part in FIS races for the first time , and from November 2002 onwards in the Nor-Am Cup . 2006/07 she finished fourth in the slalom classification of the Nor-Am Cup and in the following season the second place (behind the Canadian Anna Goodman ). In 2008 it was used more and more in the European Cup and won two races in Lenggries , which was enough for fourth place in the season's standings.

On November 25, 2007 Duke competed in her first World Cup race, the slalom in Panorama . She won World Cup points for the first time on November 30, 2008 when she finished 21st in the slalom in Aspen. Her best result so far is eighth place, achieved on December 29, 2008 at the slalom in Semmering . She has not yet been able to confirm this result. In the same winter she achieved her second-best World Cup result with 17th place in the slalom of Ofterschwang , in 2009/10 she was twice under the fastest 30. At the 2009 World Championships she finished 41st and at the 2010 Winter Olympics she finished 30th in slalom.

In the 2010/11 season Duke could not qualify for the second round in any World Cup race. She was affected by a shoulder injury and underwent shoulder surgery and an arthroscopy in her right knee towards the end of the season. In the following season 2011/12 Duke was increasingly used in the Nor-Am Cup. She reached two podium places and third place in the slalom classification, while she again remained without points in the 2011/12 World Cup.
