Hairy Chapter

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hairy Chapter was a German hard rock - band from Bonn , published from 1969 to 1971 two albums under his own name.

history

Foundation and first year

Hairy Chapter emerged from the Bonn band The Concentric Movement , founded in 1966 , from which Harry Titlbach (guitar), Rudolf Oldenburg (bass) and Rudi Haubold (drums) split off in 1969 to form a new band with Harry Unte (vocals) . Under the pseudonym Chaparall Electric Sound Inc , the band released the LP Electric Sound for Dancing on the independent label Maritim Records in their founding year in 1969 .

From 1970 the band appeared under their actual name Hairy Chapter, which they kept until they broke up in 1971. The first album under his own name was released on Opp in 1970 and was called Eyes (LP, 1970). The album contained some of the same material as Electric Sounds for Dancing , but these pieces had different titles.

Musically, Hairy Chapter was heavily influenced by the British hard rock and blues rock bands of the time.

Can't Get Through

The band recorded the album Can't Get Through (LP, 1971) between November 1970 and January 1971 in the Dierks Studios in Cologne with producer Dieter Dierks . Dierks introduced strong elements of psychedelic rock into the much more straightforward blues rock of Hairy Chapter, creating a record that combined blues rock with strong echoes of krautrock . The record was released on Bacillus Records , a sub-label of the major label Bellaphon Records , which should offer competition to “real” independent labels. Can't Get Through was Hairy Chapter's first and only album to be released on a major record label.

After the record was released, Werner Faus replaced Rudi Haubold on drums.
