history

Haix was founded in 1948 and quickly developed into a global manufacturer. The brand name Haix is ​​derived from the name Xaver Haimerl. The company's founder added the X of his first name to the first three letters of his surname and created Haimerl Xaver shoe production. Initially, the company focused on the manufacture of hiking and work boots . Xaver Haimerl's son Ewald (1961–2019) took over the management in 1992. He was a shoemaker and deputy commander of the Mainburger firefighters with the then usual rubber boots dissatisfied the firefighter and therefore developed in 1992 a fire fighting boots made of leather, the ancestor of all functional shoes that Haix produced today.

In 2003 Haix North America Inc. was founded in Lexington in the US state of Kentucky. The sales office serves the US and Canadian markets and will be expanded from 2000 square meters of warehouse space to 4000 square meters in 2016. In 2008, Haix developed hunting boots for the first time in response to customer requests. In order to be able to meet the increased demand and the associated production capacities, a new production facility with a daily capacity of up to 3000 pairs of shoes was built in Mala Subotica (Croatia) shortly afterwards . According to the company, around 1,300 employees work for the Croatian subsidiary. At the same time, a new sales subsidiary, Haix France, based in Strasbourg , was founded. One year later, Haix launched the Fire Hero model, which is now in use around the world .

Shortly afterwards, the company invested 4.7 million in the expansion of the headquarters with an area of ​​2,000 square meters and its own research and testing laboratory. In March 2016, Haix opened another production hall in Croatia and expanded its production capacity there to 10,000 shoes per day. The international logistics center in Mainburg was put into operation in 2017, from which Haix centrally delivers its goods for national and international markets. In 2018, Haix produced more than 1.3 million pairs of shoes and employed around 1,300 people worldwide.

Products

The company's product line includes work shoes, casual shoes, work shoes and special series. Haix produces for fire departments (such as the New York City Fire Department ) and police authorities as well as for armies (such as the British Army ) and special forces (such as the GSG 9 ) all over the world. Together with other German shoe manufacturers, Haix is ​​one of the contractors for the Bundeswehr's new equipment program “Combat Shoe System Armed Forces”. As part of the program, all branches of the armed forces are to be equipped with new combat boots by the end of 2020. The company also offers shoes for various requirements in the civil leisure segment, such as outdoor and hiking shoes, sports shoes and also those for hunting.

In addition to the portfolio, the company sells functional clothing, accessories and accessories for shoes. With its extended line, the company offers bags and backpacks made from used American fire fighting clothing.
