Hajime Ishimatsu

Hajime Ishimatsu ( Japanese 石松 元 , Ishimatsu Hajime ; * around 1940) is a Japanese jazz musician ( drums ).

Hajime Ishimatsu played on the Japanese music scene from the early 1960s. The first recordings were made in 1960 when he accompanied the singer Martha Miyake with musicians such as Yūji Ōno and Taizo Nakajima . In the 1970s he played with Steve Marcus / Jiro Inagaki ( Something , 1970) in Jiro Inagaki's band Soul Media , as well as with Hiroshi Okazaki , Kazuo Yashiro , Mari Nakamoto , Irene Kral ( Angel Eyes - Live in Tkio, 1977), Tadao Hayashi , in the Shōji Yokouchi Quartet ( Blonde on the Rocks , 1976), in the Yuri Tashiro Piano Trio (with bassist Kunimitsu Inaba ) and with singer George Kizu ( The Lady Is a Tramp , 1977).

In the following decades he also worked with Hozan Yamamoto's Ensemble Shakuhachi 1979 ( The Shakuhachi , 1981), with Bingo Miki's Inner Galaxy Orchestra , with Harumi Kaneko , Miki Matsubara , Norio Maeda . In the field of jazz, Tom Lord lists him in 32 recording sessions between 1960 and 2001, most recently with Martha Miyake. He can also be heard on several albums of the 1970s with drum music.
