Shōji Yokouchi

Shōji Yokouchi ( Japanese 横 内 章 次 , Yokouchi Shōji ; born November 9, 1933 in Manschukuo (today: People's Republic of China ); † 1996 ) is a Japanese pop and jazz musician (guitar, composition, arrangement).

Shōji Yokouchi's first recordings were made in 1964 in a formation a. a. with Akira Nakano , Akira Miyazawa and Shigeo Suzuki ( Modern Jazz in Tokyo ). In the following years he worked a. a. with Jimmy Takeuchi , Mari Nakamoto , Isoo Fukui , Takeshi Inomata , Tadao Hayashi , in the 1980s with the singers Martha Miyake and Mayumi Asaka . From the mid-1960s he recorded a number of albums with his own bands, such as GTD (with Hidehiko Matsumoto and Jimmy Takeuchi), Shoji Yokouchi & His Allstar Latin Combo, Shoji Yokouchi & His Super Guitar Band, Shoji Yokouchi and His Allstars as well a quartet and trio whose style was somewhere between Latin jazz , easy listening and pop music . In the field of jazz he was involved in 28 recording sessions between 1964 and 1984.
