Hakan Dogan (2015)

Hakan Dogan ( Turkish Hakan Doğan ; born May 25, 1983 in Düren ) is a former German judoka of Turkish descent and currently trainer of the Turkish national judo team, Bundesliga manager of IBB Istanbul and an official of the Turkish Judo Federation.

Life

Dogan is the son of Turkish immigrants . His father, who came from Amasya , moved to Germany in 1980 and met his mother there. Hakan Dogan and his younger sister were born in Düren and grew up in Elsdorf .

Dogan started judo training when he was five . From 1988 he trained the judo department at ASG Elsdorf. There his trainer Harald Könen promoted his career and brought him into a talent group.

In 2006 he moved to the NRW performance base 1. Judo Club Mönchengladbach, in which talent groups are specifically built up. National coach Stefan Küppers made a major contribution to his development as a top Judoka, so that he was accepted directly into the team of the Judo Bundesliga and the German B-squad. While Dogan was preparing for international championships in 2011, he tore a cruciate ligament in a fight , which meant the end of his professional career.

After finishing his career he officially became a sponsor of the Bundesliga team and also the manager of 1. JC Mönchengladbach. A year later he received an offer as a coach from Galatasaray Istanbul and as a coach of the Turkish national team. Under him, the Turkish club won the bronze title in Paris in 2013 and the Golden League in December 2014 in Samara, Russia . After the successes achieved, the IBB Istanbul became interested in him and he moved to the club in January 2015 as manager and trainer. Meanwhile, he was appointed to the foreign relations department of the Turkish Judo Federation. In 2016, Dogan took part in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro as the coordinator of the Turkish national team.

In January 2018, Dogan was elected President of the Cayman Islands Judo Federation.
