Hakoah Hallein

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The soccer club Hakoah Hallein was founded in 1950 by Jewish homeless people from the “Beth Israel” DP camp in the Tennengau district capital Hallein . The team consisted exclusively of players from the nearby Hallein, in the municipality of Puch , built refugee camp.

The team was trained by Heinrich Schönfeld , a former first division kicker from Hakoah Vienna , who emigrated to the United States in 1926 . The Halleiner Hakoah was a member of the Salzburg Football Association and was officially registered with FIFA . Until 1954, the team played in several friendly encounters against Salzburg amateur clubs and even against second division clubs from the federal capital Vienna . After the so-called displaced persons gradually moved on in order to build up an existence again, mainly abroad, the association had to be dissolved again in 1954. Despite its short existence and the fact that the club never took part in an official championship, the Hallein Hakoah is the specialty of the only Jewish soccer club in the history of the state of Salzburg .
