Halaevalu Mataʻaho ʻAhomeʻe
Halaevalu Mataʻaho ʻAhomeʻe (born May 29, 1926 in Tonga ; † February 19, 2017 in Auckland , New Zealand ) was Queen of Tonga from December 16, 1965 to September 10, 2006 and wife of King Taufaʻahau Tupou IV. After that she was Queen Mother of George Tupou V. and the current King Tupou VI.
Life
Halaevalu Mataʻaho ʻAhomeʻe was the eldest daughter of 'Ahome'e (Manu-'o-pangai) and his wife Heuʻifanga Veikune, a great-granddaughter of the last king of the Tongan Empire . She was a great-great-granddaughter of Ma'afu.
She received her education at St. Joseph's Convent School, Nuku'alofa , Tongatapu and St. Mary's College, Ponsonby, Auckland , New Zealand .
marriage
On June 10, 1946, Halaevalu married her distant relative, Crown Prince Taufaʻahau Tupou IV , the eldest son of Queen Salote Tupou III. (1900–1965) and Prince Viliami Tungī Mailefihi. She was crowned on July 4, 1967.
death
She died on February 19, 2017 in Auckland , where she had flown a week earlier for medical treatment.
On 28 February 2017, it was with an airplane of the Royal Aircraft , a Beechcraft G.18S flanked by two C-130 Hercules of the Royal New Zealand Air Force , flew to Tonga and buried in Mala'ekula on 1 March 2017th
