Halali (actually Halali Camp ) is the name of an overnight camp opened in 1967 for general tourist traffic in the Etosha National Park in Namibia . It is located on the main C38 road about 70 kilometers from the other two main camps, Okaukuejo (west) and Namutoni (east).
The name was given based on the term " Halali ", which comes from the hunter's language and which also stands for the greeting of a deserving hunter and the end of the hunt. In this case it means the latter.
Very close to Halali you can see the only mountains in the eastern part of the park. You can watch the animals at the Moringa water hole from one of the hills near the camp . On a hill 2.5 km east of Halali, the German troops operated a heliograph to communicate with the soldiers stationed at Fort Namutoni . Hence the name of the second water hole (northwest of the hill) near the camp, "Helio".
