Vladimír Ambros

Vladimír Ambros (born September 18, 1890 in Proßnitz ; † May 12, 1956 ibid) was a Czech composer .

Ambros studied in Brno with Leoš Janáček and at the Hoch'schen Conservatory in Frankfurt am Main with Iwan Knorr . From 1914 to 1921 he was Opera Kapellmeister in London , after which he worked as a music teacher, conductor and freelance composer in his home country.

Ambros composed two operas , three symphonies , three symphonic poems , a sinfonietta , four exotic dances , two nonets, a wind quintet, three string quartets, piano trios, works for cello , violin and piano as well as songs and choirs.
