Haldeck also Haldek, Haltecke, Haldegg was the name of an old knightly , Thuringian noble family. It was named after Haldeck Castle on the Unstrut, above Freyburg .

history

The origin of the sex is not known. Possibly the family comes from the Burgmann family "von Werben" (from Burgwerben), which was first mentioned with Tammo von Werben (originally 1200-1215). On September 19, 1206, Tammo de Wirbin was named among the witnesses in a document from Margrave Dietrich von Meißen. You may have come there in the wake of the Burgraves of Werben , who placed the Burgraves on Neuchâtel (novo castro) between 1215 and 1297 , and named themselves after the castle.

A knight Fridericus de Haldegge was mentioned as early as 1225 . At the end of the 13th century and in the 14th century, Tammo von Haldeck was in the witness service of the Thuringian landgraves. Haldegge Castle is located above Freyburg, at the end of a ridge protruding to the southwest, just southwest of today's Hotel Edelacker, three hundred meters east of the old town, within sight of Neuchâtel . Later the family sat in places around Weißenfels , such as Borau , Großkayna , Kriechau , (castle) Lauchstädt, Lesau, Lichstedt , Reichardtswerben , Uichteritz . In 1279 the fratibus Thammone et Iohanne dictis de Haldeck sat in Villa Wide ( Wiehe ). The von Haldeck on Uichteritz probably died out with the death of Michael von Haldecke on March 24, 1483 in the male line. Melchior von Haldegk was from 1519 to 1531 house commander (governor) of the Teutonic Order of Ragnit in East Prussia . The male line died out with Hans von Haldeck in 1611.
