Halid Bešlić
Halid Bešlić (* 20th November 1953 in Knežina at Sokolac , SFR Yugoslavia ) is a Bosnian folk - singer . Bešlić is one of the most popular singers in the entire Western Balkans . It also gained popularity outside of the former Yugoslavia, such as in Hungary , Romania and Bulgaria .
biography
Already during his school days he made musical appearances. After serving in the Yugoslav Army , he moved to Sarajevo . There he kept himself afloat by performing in restaurants. His popularity soared in these five years that he recorded his first single "Sanjam Majku" in 1979 . This was very successful, so that by the end of the year he released the albums “Sanjam majku” and “Pjesma o Njoj”. In 1983 his album "Neću neću dijamante" was released, which went platinum within a very short time . The success of the song of the same name is shown by the translation into Bulgarian , where it was still in the charts years later . New albums were released every year until 1990. These also achieved platinum status.
In the meantime, Bešlić has released almost 20 albums. During the Bosnian War , he organized numerous benefit concerts for the victims across Europe . He donated the fee and supported all kinds of institutions such as SOS Children's Villages Sarajevo or similar. In 2008 his album “Bešlić 08” was released. At the presentation in Croatia he was hailed as the Frank Sinatra of Bosnia.
Its genre is folk, where modern pop music merges with traditional music from the Balkans .
