Hallvard Johnsen
Hallvard Johnsen (born June 27, 1916 in Hamburg ; † November 6, 2003 in Bærum , Viken ) was a Norwegian composer.
From 1930 to 1941 Johnsen studied flute, conducting and composition at the Oslo Conservatory with Bjarne Brustad , Karl Andersen and Per Steenberg and was later a student of Vagn Holmboe in Copenhagen . From 1947 to 1973 he was solo flutist in the military band in Oslo.
He composed 24 symphonies , two overtures , two violin concertos , a trumpet concerto, an orchestral suite, chamber music works, piano works, three operas (including Legenden om Svein og Maria based on Alfred Hauge 's novel of the same name, 1971), cantatas , an oratorio and songs .
