history
On November 15, 1858, the Zwickau – Chemnitz section of the Dresden – Werdau railway was opened. At the same time, the Glauchau-Schönbörnchen-Gößnitz line was put into operation as a connection to the Leipzig-Hof line. At first there was only one branch in Schönbörnchen .
It was not until November 1, 1885 that the Schönbörnchen stop was established, which has been used as a train station since 1905. The station has been called Glauchau-Schönbörnchen since October 4, 1931 . The signal box was located next to a waiting hall with a toilet on the southern platform. After the Second World War , the second track of each of the two lines in contact with the station was dismantled as a reparation payment for the Soviet Union . With the reconstruction of the second track on the Dresden – Werdau railway line, the second platform was rebuilt in 1971. In the area of the Glauchau-Schönbörnchen station, the electrification of the Dresden – Werdau railway line went into operation on May 30, 1965. The railway line to Gößnitz was electrified in 1984.
At the latest with the conversion to ESTW technology , the operating point , which was temporarily run as a train station , was converted into a stop with a branch point. The signal box was closed in 2003. The waiting hall was demolished in 2005 and the signal box in 2006.
