The 4-by-100-meter relay team of women at the 1978 European Athletics Championships was on 2 and 3 September 1978 Stadium Evžena Rošického of Prague held.

The Soviet Union became European champions in the line-up of Wera Anissimowa , Lyudmila Maslakowa , Lyudmila Kondratjewa and Lyudmila Storoschkowa . Second place went to Great Britain with Beverley Goddard , Kathy Smallwood , Sharon Colyear and Sonia Lannaman . Bronze went to the GDR ( Johanna Klier , Monika Hamann , Carla Bodendorf , Marlies Göhr ).
