Sofka Popova

Sofka Popova ( Bulgarian Софка Попова , English transcription Sofka Popova, born Казанджиева - Kazandschiewa - Kazandzhieva ; born August 15, 1953 in Plovdiv ) is a former Bulgarian sprinter .

At the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 1971 in Sofia, she won bronze with the Bulgarian team in the 4-by-200-meter relay, and at the European Athletics Championships in 1978 she was fourth in the 4-by-100-meter relay .

A sixth place over 60 m at the European Indoor Championships in Vienna was followed the following year by winning the title over the same distance at the European Indoor Championships in Sindelfingen . At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow, she reached the semi-finals over 100 m and came fourth with the Bulgarian quartet in the 4 x 100 meter relay.

Another gold medal over 50 m at the European Indoor Championships in 1981 in Grenoble was followed by silver over 60 m at the European Indoor Championships in Milan in 1982 . At the EM 1982 in Athens, she was eliminated over 100 m in the semifinals and came in fourth place again in the relay.

From 1978 to 1982 she was five times in a row Bulgarian indoor champion over 50 and 60 m.
