Andrea Lynch

Andrea Lynch ( Andrea Joan Caron Lynch , temporarily Saunders ; born November 24, 1952 in Barbados ) is a former British sprinter .

At the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, she reached the semi-finals over 100 m and came in seventh place with the British team in the 4 x 100 meter relay .

At the British Commonwealth Games in Christchurch in 1974, she won silver for England starting in the 100 m and in the 4 x 100 m relay. Shortly thereafter, another silver medal over 60 m followed at the European Athletics Indoor Championships in Gothenburg . At the European Athletics Championships in Rome , she won bronze over 100 m and took fourth place with the British relay.

In 1975 she won the European Indoor Championships in Katowice over 60 m. At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, she was seventh in the 100 m and eighth in the 4 x 100 meter relay. In 1977 she won silver over 100 m and bronze over 200 m at the Universiade .

In 1973, 1975 and 1976 she became AAA champion over 100 m outdoors and over 50 m indoors.

Her marriage to the Canadian sprinter Brian Saunders ended in divorce.
