The Lößnitzgrund stop is an operating point at km 3.51 of the narrow-gauge railway Radebeul Ost – Radeburg ( Lößnitzgrundbahn ). Today's stop is located in the eponymous Lößnitzgrund in the urban area of Radebeul in Saxony , in the Kötzschenbroda Oberort district .

The facilities and high-rise buildings of the operating center that were still in existence until November 2011 represented in particular the state of construction in the 1920s, when the breakpoint had been expanded into a train station . The cultural monument is recorded as an individual monument in the "Directory of cultural monuments of the city of Radebeul"; it is part of the listed entity of the Lößnitzgrundbahn.

history

Hp Lößnitzgrund and Meierei, 1902
The planum of the former crossing track is still clearly visible. (2011)

The Lößnitzgrund stop has existed since the narrow-gauge railway opened on September 15, 1884. In its original state, there was only one platform illuminated by gas lanterns. Buildings did not exist.

When the number of travelers, especially through the nearby Meierei restaurant, which opened in 1882, increased significantly, the first open waiting hall was built in 1897. The boarded up wooden house was a type building with a floor area of 25 m². At the same time there was also a " free pass ". With the opening of the Bilzbad in 1905, the importance of the stop increased even further.

In the summer of 1921, the previous stop was given a second track, so that train crossings were now possible. The waiting hall was enlarged by a service room with ticket issuance. Operationally, Lößnitzgrund was now a train station. The structures were later supplemented by an old freight car body, which the railway maintenance office used as a storage room.

After the Second World War, the second track was hardly used for train crossings. From 1950 Lößnitzgrund was therefore again a stop. The second track then served at times as the connecting track of the Niederlößnitz power station , in 1966 it was dismantled. The free cession disappeared around 1960.

After the reunification, the Zwickel belonging to Moritzburg in the Lößnitzgrund was taken over by the city of Radebeul in the course of area adjustment.

Currently (2008) up to eight pairs of passenger trains of the Saxon Steam Railway Company (SDG) stop at the Lößnitzgrund stop every day. Today it is only used by a few travelers.

In November 2011, the listed platform lighting was replaced with modern luminaires without prior permission under monument protection law. The historic platform was also modernized by equipping it with concrete paving and guide strips for the blind, without the prior consent of the monument protection authority, and the water pump also disappeared. After initiating administrative offense proceedings and following a petition, the SDG was forced to set up a monument advisory board. In addition, the responsible monument office issued a deconstruction order.

description

The “station”, which is now a listed building, consists of a boarded waiting hall in a half-timbered construction together with neighboring technical systems.

The platform lighting, benches and a water pump were also part of the cultural monument until the unauthorized conversion. Parts of the monument go back to 1895.
