Erik Halvar Bertil Björk (born September 22, 1928 in Borgvattnet , Jämtland , † November 12, 2000 in Huddinge , Stockholm County ) was a Swedish actor .

life and career

Erik Björk worked for decades as an actor at the theater in Malmö , but between the 1960s and 1990s also took on numerous roles in Swedish film and television. In 1968 he was awarded the Guldbagge Prize for Best Actor for his appearance in Badarna alongside Ingrid Thulin . Mostly Björk was used as a performer in high-profile, often dignified supporting roles; For example, in his internationally probably best-known role as pastor and husband of Liv Ullmann in Ingmar Bergman's drama Herbstsonata from 1978. Directed by Jan Troell , he played supporting roles in his films Emigranten (1971) and Das neue Land (1972). He was most recently in front of the camera in the year before his death for the television series Julens hjältar .

Erik Björk was married to Alice Strid-Word and died of cancer in November 2000 at the age of 72.
