The Hamburg Cruise Center Steinwerder , also known as Hamburg Cruise Center 3 ( CC 3 ), has been the newest cruise terminal since it opened on June 9, 2015 and is located in the middle of the Port of Hamburg .

The 80 million euro complex was built on Kronprinzkai in Kaiser-Wilhelm-Hafen south of the Norderelbe . Due to this location on a peninsula in the middle of the port, the inner city of Hamburg can only be reached via longer and cumbersome routes. For this purpose, a new pier for port ferries was set up at the terminal, which, however, had not been used regularly until spring 2016.

Terminal operator

Terminal Steinwerder Hamburg

The terminal operating company Cruise Gate Hamburg GmbH (CGH) was initially a joint venture between HPA (51%) and Flughafen Hamburg GmbH (FHG), which has experience in baggage handling . The CGH had the task of promoting the cruise location Hamburg and the reorganization of the cruise business in Hamburg. The company now serves as the central point of contact for all cruise lines. This includes both the operation and the allocation of berths at the three cruise terminals in Hamburg. At the beginning of 2016, FHG handed over its previous shares in CHG to HPA, which is now the sole shareholder.

Furnishing

The cruise terminal is the most modern handling terminal in the Hamburg cruise location. Up to 4000 passengers can be handled there in two separate areas of the terminal building. The Cruise Center Steinwerder has 1500 long-term and short-term parking spaces for cruise guests, pickers / deliverers and visitors. A dock for harbor ferries was set up at the terminal so that it could be connected to local public transport .

From 2016, the terminal will have a shore supply with energy to operate the ship's engines . A connection to the LNG supply from tank trucks was created here, so that auxiliary diesel engines on the cruise ship can then generate the required electricity themselves with the comparatively clean fuel .

Seafarers Lounge

The Seafarers Lounges were founded specifically to support and take care of crew members of the cruise ships. The Seafarers Lounge has three locations in Hamburg, in the Cruise Centers in Altona , HafenCity and Steinwerder. Here the seafarers can contact their families and shop free of charge. They can also transfer money for their families and exchange foreign currency. The lounges are located in the security area of the cruise center, so that the crew members do not go ashore, but can visit the lounges quickly and unbureaucratically. They were founded by DSM Altona and DSM Hamburg-Harburg. They work very closely with the seaman's missions and on-board support in the Port of Hamburg, often in personal union.
