Hamengkubuwono IX.
Hamengkubuwono IX. (* April 12, 1912 in Yogyakarta , Indonesia ; † October 2, 1988 in Washington, DC ) was the ninth Sultan of Yogyakarta from March 18, 1940 to October 2, 1988 and Vice President from March 22, 1973 to March 23, 1978 Suharto . Before that, he was also Minister of Economic Affairs and, alongside Foreign Minister Adam Malik, was one of the leading political forces in Indonesia.
