Hamiyet Yuceses

Hamiyet Yüceses (born June 20, 1915 , † July 10, 1996 in Istanbul ) was a singer of Turkish classical music .

Life

In her childhood she heard songs by the gazelhan Hafız Burhan and sang them. So she acquired a repertoire of songs. Her father sent her on stage when she was eleven. When Hamiyet turned 16, her family moved with her to Gaziantep .

In 1932 she performed for the first time in Istanbul. She was the lead singer of Safiye Aylas at the Londra Birahanesi casino in Beyoğlu . Meanwhile, Yüceses took private lessons from Selahattin Pınar, Saadettin Kaynak, Yesari Asım Arsoy, Mısırlı İbrahim and Bimen Şen. In the same year, at the age of 17, she was elected the queen of votes in Turkey.

In the course of the name law reform , Hamiyet took the surname Yüceses ( German : sublime voice ) on the advice of Saadettin Kaynak . Saadettin Kaynak wrote songs for them like O Dudaklar ( these lips ), Yasemen ( flower ), Kirpiklerin Gölgesi ( The shadow of your eyelashes ).

In 1940 she married the officer Fetih. Her husband died on July 14, 1942 in an accident involving the TCG Atılay submarine . With the songs Gitti de Gelmeyiverdi ( He went and did not come anymore ), which she sang for her deceased husband, and the very dramatic song Makber, she reached a new high in her career.

In 1944 she taught at the Istanbul Conservatory for Classical Turkish Music. In 1949 she brought the label Odeon the song Hacı Arif Bey Bakmıyor CESM-i Siyah , in which she is a ghazal pasted out.

She sang in films such as B. in Efsuncu Baba, Affet Beni Allahım, Kanun Namına, Soygun, İncili Çavuş, Mahallenin Namusu. Hamiyet Yüceses gave concerts in Syria , Lebanon , Cyprus , Germany and the USA . She even gave a concert on the BBC radio .

Hamiyet Yüceses, along with Müzeyyen Senar and Safiye Ayla, is one of the Üç dev Çınar ( three large plane trees ), an honorary title of the Turkish population.

Hamiyet Yüceses died in Istanbul in 1996.
