Hammer is a climatic health resort and part of the municipality of Siegsdorf in the Traunstein district in Bavaria . The place is in the Chiemgau on the federal highway 306 , which is part of the German Alps-Baltic Sea holiday route .
history
The name of the place comes from the hammer forge that was based in Hammer. The building of this blacksmith's shop can still be seen next to the Hörther inn. It lies on the course of the former Reichenhall - Traunstein - Rosenheim brine pipeline . The political community Hammer was created by the Bavarian community edict in 1818. In 1933 the place had 318 inhabitants. As a result of the regional reform in Bavaria on May 1, 1978, the municipality of Hammer was incorporated into the municipality of Siegsdorf on a voluntary basis.
