Hammett is an unincorporated community in Elmore County in the US state of Idaho .

Hammett is on the north bank of the Snake River about 14 kilometers downstream from Glenns Ferry and about 30 kilometers southeast of Country Seat Mountain Home at an elevation of 773 meters.
Interstate 84 passes north of the town , and in this section it is the same route as US Highway 26 and US Highway 30 .
history
The historic Oregon Trail , along which settlers from the east and central United States migrated to Oregon in the mid-19th century , split near Hammett . Some of the settlers moved on along the Snake River , others took the land route roughly along today's I-84 via the present-day towns of Mountain Home and Boise to Fort Boise , where they again met the river.
