Chang Han-na (born December 23, 1982 in Suwon ) is a South Korean cellist and conductor .

In 1994, when she was 11, she won the Grand Prize of the Rostropovich Concours in Paris. After this performance, both Mstislav Rostropovich and Misha Maisky promised her to continue promoting her. In 1997 and 2003 she won the Echo and in 2004 the Cannes Classical Music Award.

In May 2002 she played the opening concert at the Asian Music Festival in Seoul .

She is playing a Guadagnini cello.

She is currently registered as a philosophy student at Harvard , but is currently taking a break from her studies (2006).

In December 2010 / January 2011, Chang worked for two weeks with the Bavarian State Youth Orchestra . During this time Tchaikovsky's "Francesca da Rimini" and the 5th symphony were rehearsed by Dmitri Shostakovich . Chang conducted the orchestra at five concerts across Bavaria, such as B. in the Munich Philharmonic . In 2012 she took over the artistic direction of the Bavarian State Youth Orchestra . In 2013 she was appointed Music Director of the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra . as well as first guest conductor with the Trondheim Symphony Orchestra . On September 8, 2014, she resigned as director of the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra. The reason she gave was "persistent administrative difficulties and irreconcilable artistic differences with the management".
