Handbook of South American Indians

The Handbook of South American Indians ("Handbook of the South American Indians") is the standard ethnological encyclopedia for the indigenous peoples of South America , published from 1946 and published as volume 143 of the bulletins of the Bureau of American Ethnology , based in Washington DC Work collaborated, including Robert H. Lowie , Alfred Métraux , Claude Lévi-Strauss , Curt Nimuendajú , to name just a few. The American anthropologist Julian H. Steward (1902–1972) is responsible as the main editor . The work is divided into seven volumes (with the publication dates Vols. 1–2, 1946; 3–4, 1948; 5, 1949; 6, 1950; 7 (index), 1959), the individual volumes in different parts:
