Hand dictionary

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A concise dictionary is a manual in which the articles are sorted alphabetically. A manual , on the other hand, presents the knowledge of a subject or a topic in a systematic, structured manner. The concise dictionary differs from the subject lexicon in that the articles are significantly longer (several pages each) and deal with broader topics than the short lemmas of the lexicon.

The concise dictionary is usually of a scientific nature and deals with a topic. Some understand a concise dictionary to be a particularly handy dictionary.
