The Rupperath Hand Weaving Museum is located in the Rupperath district of Bad Münstereifel in the Euskirchen district , North Rhine-Westphalia , Schulweg 1.

Rupperath is widely known as a hand- weaving village . 1957 was the basis of two found in the attic of the school looms , the weaving made the school subject. The primary school teacher at the time, Esser, also researched weaving in the Eifel . In 1961 he founded the workshop for hand weaving in Bad Münstereifel-Rupperath.

In this context he began to collect spinning and weaving equipment. From the school's closure in 1965 until the work group was dissolved at the end of 2003, his collection was housed in the school's former gymnasium. In 2006 the “Hand-Weaving Museum” opened in the rooms of the former school and since then has shown the now expanded collection. Since then, a sub-department of the operating association “Alte Schule Rupperath eV” has been looking after the museum on a voluntary basis.

The hand weaving museum shows, in addition to many variations of spinning devices (from hand spindles , over spindle rims, classic spinning wheels to wedding wheels (also called starvation spinning wheels )) a large selection of looms and hand weaving devices. In the hand weaving museum, the approximately 6000 year history of hand weaving is presented. Tools from the Bronze Age and looms from Arabia , Africa and Latin America are on display. A damask loom from the Himalayas and many ribbon looms and techniques are particularly noteworthy . All spinning and weaving devices can be used and invite you to explore and try out the different techniques.

Changing special exhibitions deal with different areas of textile production.

Expert tours show small and large groups of visitors the history of textiles and explain the use of the various devices.
