The craftsmen's fountain on Georg-Käß- Platz in Augsburg-Haunstetten was created by Christian Angerbauer in 1972, the year Haunstetten was incorporated into Augsburg . It forms the center of a small park that was created in 1971 when a former blacksmith's property was demolished.

In 2016 the fountain was renovated on behalf of the Kulturkreis Haunstetten eV through a generous donation from the Augsburg waste recycling plant .

meaning

According to the resolution of the then city council of Haunstetten, the bronze fountain is intended to remind of the former importance of agriculture and handicrafts in Haunstetten. The fountain is also reminiscent of a stylized tree. The Haunstetter city coat of arms and the groups of figures of a blacksmith with an anvil and a peasant couple with a scythe adorn the fountain. The basin into which the well water flows was made of artificial stone ; The numbers 912 - 1972 are on a small bronze plaque at the edge of the pool. The year 912 refers to the first written mention of Haunstetten in a donation to the Sankt Mang monastery in Füssen , which later turned out to be a forgery; the year 1972 on the incorporation to Augsburg and the loss of the independence of Haunstetten.
