Hanger Lane is an above-ground London Underground station in the London Borough of Ealing . It is in the Travelcard tariff zone 3, in the middle of a large roundabout where the multi-lane expressway A40 and the northern ring road A406 intersect. In 2013, 3.63 million passengers used the station served by the Central Line . A few hundred meters away is the Park Royal station of the Piccadilly Line .

The Great Western Railway (GWR) and the Great Central Railway opened the jointly built New North Main Line (NNML) in 1903 . The Twyford Abbey stop (a few meters east of the current station) was opened on May 1, 1904 and closed again on May 1, 1911. The replacement stop in Brentham (located a little west of the current location), which opened on the same day, was out of service from 1915 to 1920 for reasons of economy.

As part of the New Works Program of the London Passenger Transport Board , decided in 1935, an additional double lane was laid along the NNML after the end of the Second World War to enable the underground service between North Acton and West Ruislip . The underground service of the Central Line could be started on June 30, 1947 and the GWR closed the Brentham stop .
